Each year the Center hosts a variety of educational and cultural activities, from conferences and celebrations to readings and lectures. Special events include the bi-annual art celebrations, and a Celebration of Minnesota Children's Authors and Illustrators.
The Center also presents the annual A.P. Anderson Award for Outstanding Contributions to Literature and the Arts. The 2008 A.P. Anderson Award recipient is nationally acclaimed photographer Jim Brandenburg. He joins a stellar group of past recipients including Warren MacKenzie, Master Potter and Teacher, Lise Houlton, Artistic Director of the acclaimed Minnesota Dance Theatre, Philip Brunelle, conductor, coral scholar and performer, 2005; Betsy Bowen, children's author and illustrator, 2004; Patricia Hampl, poet/memoirist, 2003; Siah Armajani, sculptor/public artist, 2002; Libby Larsen, nationally recognized composer 2001; Joe Dowling, artistic director of the Guthrie Theater, 2000; Robert Bly and William Duffy, founders of the influential Fifties Press, 1999.

Ongoing Sessions: Beginning and Intermediate Glassblowing Classes with Gail Dahlberg. Learn techniques of gathering, marvering, blocking, and blowing molten glass. www.gaildahlbergglass.com
Beginning Glassblowing: Students will learn to blow their own forms and to assist other glassblowers. No prerequisite necessary.

Camp Springboard Artist Workshop: The Artist Loan Fund is a community-based, revolving loan program created to respond to a broad range of artists' needs, i.e.: purchasing equipment, completing a project, or taking advantage of an opportunity.
